Croc in a Hard Place
Written and Directed by Rori Endersby
Croc in a Hard Place is a one-person show with a masked performer. It tells the story of Nile, a crocodile in a human world, who's recently published their life story - from growing up with human parents and keeping their identity secret, to discovering a community of fellow crocodiles and going viral for standing up against rioters who attack Nile’s favourite bookshop/community space.
The show functions as an allegory for the trans experience and was created by weaving together my own experiences and those related to me in interviews with other trans folks of different ages/gender expressions/intersecting identities. The aim is for the show to encourage greater empathy in cis audiences, while also reflecting the experiences of trans audiences.
